We were traveling from Houston, Texas and had such a pleasant stay here. We were very delighted with everything about the Bear Inn. The rooms were cozy with comfortable beds and the bathrooms had all new fixtures. The meals that we had here were delicious! The chefs here are top tier. My particular favorite dish was the steak pie. Every bite of it was savory and tender. Breakfasts were filling and satisfying. We stayed here for 3 nights and used it as our home base while visiting Chatsworth House and other sites in the area. It was the perfect place for doing this. After a full day of sight seeing, we would return to the Bear Inn to relax and have a couple of pints in the pub before having dinner. What really made our stay special were the friendly owners, staff and locals. They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. They pointed out local areas of interest for us to visit and explore. We had many conversations over our stay with the owners and various members of staff from the chefs to the bartenders. They were all friendly and sincere. We truly made some good friendships during our time here. We were actually reluctant to leave but our plans wouldn't allow us to stay longer. On our last day, one of the owner's gave us a private tour of the building, showing us all of the different suites and how they were decorated. We definitely recommend The Bear Inn and will be returning ourselves!

Absolute gem of a place. The food is amazing, the staff are all friendly and very helpful we had a lovely meal and following that a few weeks later we had a wake for my late Father in the Bear room. Plenty of food in the buffet, everyone was really empathetic with just the right amount of attentiveness, as it was a difficult day for us. Thank you 🙏🏻😊

We haven't been here for several years, as the previous owners had let standards slip.Very pleased that we returned, new people running the pub, good selection of drinks, main menu and a Specials board, very clean, polite staff, everything was spot on. The food was delicious and a generous serving. Looking forward to returning in a couple of weeks.

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at this lovely character-filled and nicely finished pub.The food itself was absolutely excellent with very generous portions. The vegetarian nut roast I had was excellent and the chicken which another of our party ordered was also perfectly cooked. These were all accompanied by very generous portions of fresh vegetables and a rich cauliflower cheese. This was followed up by some - again - very delicious desserts with a good selection for vegan and gluten-free diners. To top it off, the service was very quick and the staff friendly and attentive. We can easily say we’ll definitely return if we’re in the area again and I’ll definitely be recommending to others. Thank you!
